.OBJ import and seperating mesh parts into Subtools

I have some questions on what to do with Subtools after separating them from a .obj file I imported from Max. Once imported, is the .obj file thee Tool I open within Lightbox each time I want to sculpt one of its Subtools?

Folling a tutorial I separated all the meshes from the .obj with —> Poly group > Auto group to separate the parts of the obj. Then used Subtools > Split > Group split to put them into Subtools, confusing.

Before I realized there were different files to save I ended up making a bunch of them by accident. I’m confused on the difference between Tools and Subtools. Lightboox contains Tools. Are Subtools within the Tools directory. At least for the the tools that have parts/subtools?

The way I’ve brought a Subtool onto the canvas is to open up a Tool from Lightbox then open its Subtool on the right. I’ve ‘savedas’ several Tools with names such as ‘Shield’, 'Shield1, ‘Shield2’…should I have only saved one, over riding the old to keep all the Subtools in the main Tool?

The confusion is over ‘save as’ in Subtools and save as in Tools. Then there’s the document or project to save! Can anyone help me out with all the saving to file?
