Normal Maps from ZB2 to Cinema4D (Moved to Community Forum)

hey dunno if this is ok to post things like this or not…so please remove if causes offense or is against forum rules…cheers.

a new plugin has been released for Cinema 4D which allows the use of Normal Maps, so you can now take your normal maps from ZB2 and should be able to use them in C4D. Its from the developer of Ditools and also includes a Parralax effect shader (view dependant displacement mapping) and a strange coloured proximal shader called densimator.

hope this helps anyone who uses ZB2 and Cinema4d together.

hey flingster
got yourself a copy of zb2 yet?

not got it yet…but i’m about to cave really…so it only a matter of time…heh heh.(funds permiting…)

i don’t think having seen what its capable of then c4d plugins…and any likely development direction for 9 i could avoid it really. even without MPD in c4d…the standard displacement renders pretty good really. Slightly worried about the poly counts i’m likely to create! i’m a poly hog without something like zb pushing me over the edge…heh heh. It just looks so improved i’d be mad not to…
I really want to know whether you c4d guys out there have tried a low/high poly mesh and created a normal map in zb…then rendered the low in c4d (with remo’s new normal map shader). Have to say the normal maps i’ve seen rendered with it just look absolutely peachy…maybe i’m a little biased…but he put some groundwork in initially when he made dishaper…and then really spent time on it with this plugin…so i’m just dying to see someones results…with it…otherwise i’m gonna have to wait till the end of the month when i get zb and try it myself!..with my zb-noob touch which always helps…heh heh.

BTW how are you finding it…liked your initial models…you seem to have hit the ground running so to speak…so looking forward to something stunning very shortly.
any likes/dislikes from a seasoned c4d-user it would be good to here your thoughts…and workarounds/adaptions to working method etc…i guess its not really the same as anything else so its not fair to compare.

i think what tipped the balance was you guys raving about it, remos plugin and finally the other day i read the 3dworld review which just made me think…yeah i want it now…
