I am looking to buy an application that uses the normal mapping and displacement from z2 . I mainly want a rendering/animation package.
Could people please post applications that use both of thease features?

I was able to get the displacement mapping working well in 3ds max but haven’t followed it up to see how well it animates. You don’t need a normal map with the displacement map working well because it reacts to light as more complex geometry (because it is more complex geometry). As for the normal mapping I managed to get it to work, albeit badly, in Doom3, so how’s that?
Unfortunately Doom 3 doesn’t seem to like the GUV tiling as all the edges of the UV mapping end up looking bad for both the diffuse and normal textures, but that’s something I’ll post about when I have it figured out. (trying to manage UV-unwrapping in max to hide/minimize nasty looking seams)

IF there is a way,try to tweak or import the smoothing groups , this will help the banding from the UV mapping…
also,
before exporting the mesh with the texture from Zbrush, try pressing the fix seams button in the tool>texture pallett… this will help alos…
I have not tried to port anything into DOOM 3 yet, but following the above steps allowed me to import them into unreal 2003-2004…
