Watching the zbrush 4r8 presentation where they are demonstrating the chisel brush and alpha creation, in their alpha tab there is a transform 3D button, but that doesn’t seem to be in my tab.
I believe it didn’t make it into the final release…
It totally made it in! And its easy.
To make your own do this:
- Make a Plane3D On the Canvas.
- Turn on Edit Mode.
- Make it into a PolyMesh3D so you can sculpt it.
- In the Geometry Palette turn off Smooth (Smt) next to Divide.
- Subdivide it as many times as you like or think you will need (or subdivide as you sculpt).
- Set it to the lowest subdivision.
- Start sculpting (Just normal sculpting, no dynamesh, ZRemesher, or even Insert Mesh).
- As you sculpt raise the subdivisions as needed.
- Look at it from its "Front" meaning straight on.
- Hit the F key, or the Frame button (Not sure this is needed, but it makes sense to me).
- Turn off perspective if needed (Again, not sure on that, I just do it).
- Select the Chisel Brush from the Brush Pallet, this is where you will save this thing.
- In the Brush Menu, at the top of the screen, not the palate, hit the From Mesh button.
TADA!!
In your Chisel Brushes you should now have a new brush!
You should be able to save, name these, and make your own collections at will. But that’s another project.
Note:
It has to be a Plane3D, and you cant mess with the geometry in any way that breaks its flow. This is due to how the math works, so just use that or the buttons won’t show up in the Brush Menu.
So dont use IMMs in it, it will break.
Also note:
You CAN use these vector displacement thingys on it, they actualy only use the orignal mesh so its not breaking anything…
oh wow, I misunderstood the question!
Sorry!
