Next pic in circus series --The Strongman

The Strongman

He was modelled with 4 spheres, head, body, arm(mirrored), and legs, multi-markered together. Again grain added in Photoshop. Next ones going to be either the fortune teller or swordswallower.
3 down 6 to go

Nice! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Very good :ex: Do you think that with such defined pectorials that more defined abs. would add or detract from this image?

A wonderful arrogant pose, and expression…
This series impresses me with the consistency of execution, but mostly how you’re nailing the character traits of each one…

Thanks for pointing it out DeeVee, If I gave him larger abs he may look less victorian, and have more of a modern body builder look. Older boy builders like Charles Atlas for example has a large chest, and less developed abs. Do you think it looks out of proportion?, It wouldn’t be too hard to rectify.

Actually DeeVee I think it is historically accurate. Body builders from this era did not have the education that today’s muscle-bound hulk’s have. Many of the older era body-builders would have lesser defined even chunky abs. And this pic looks just like an old ā€œSrong-Manā€. I really like it. Can’t wait to see the rest of them.

This picture is courtesy of RoBo, our Forums’ Manipulator Of Massive Weight…
He sent it to me to help with my ā€˜Troll King’ image, and I pass it on as a possible aid to you…These are the old strongmen…

Hope this helps Grub, and thank RoBo…!

SC that image on the far right looks vaguely familiar…muhahahahhaha…J/K…I like th estrong man pic…you know a circus freak show would be a kewl thing too…loved those sideshows as a kid…elephant foot man, two headed babies in a bottle, fat woman, bearded lady, the he she person, ratboy, …the list was endless it seemed…and all that for a buck…keep up the great work on this project…

Is the one on the left Bob Hoffman ? I should know them all but my memory fails me at this time.

Thanks Stonecutter and ā€˜Robo’, could have done with those pics earlier, the costumes are interesting, I was modelling very much from memory and gave him a steriotypical look, which turned out ok. It’s a bit frustrating because I’m having to rush these pics to meet a deadline.

That is ONE FANTASTIC --perfect Strongman --he resembles Gus Rethwisch the president of the World Bench Press and deadlifters lifting org. (he played Buzz Saw in running man) Absolutely fabulous work !!!
–the People in the photo are Joe Bonomo (movie strongman) Eugene Sandow (who IS the statue -Mr. Olympia winners get as a trophy) and Louis Cyr (Canadian Strongman of yore --before Doug Hepburn stole the historical spotlight) BOB HOFFMAN DID LOOK JUST LIKE THAT PICTURE of Bonomo --but that wasn’t him–but 4000 points for even Knowing about Yorks founder Hoffman !!!–Yes old time strongmen were less ā€œcutā€ but there were a few like Geo Jowett who had ab’s once in a while --and Sandow (middle)had downright modern abs—with his shirt off–but most strongmen of yore were porky like me…

Hey Robo Was Buzzsaw the one with the tash, who had a fake fight with arnie? I think he was in Predator too.

You are definelty in the ā€œZoneā€

Excellent, crisp illustration work!

LOVE the face. :+1: :+1: :sunglasses:

GRUB --HEY get ready for a shocker----the guy in PREDATOR ------was Govenor Jesse Ventura -

-Gus was in House --and as buzzsaw he was blond crewcut guy–but in real life—he’s–
-

-I think he was just in a crowd scene or sumpin in Scorpian King too --I’ll ask him in May at the world record breakers meet in Washington state!

You certainly know your beef Robo, I remember him now, although the in the pic you posted he looks quite different.
I actually thought it was a pic of Stonecutter from the thumbnail!!!

hey you see the 8 year old kid i think he holds world record for a 8 year old he can bench 4 times his body weight and his body is riped at 8 years old with 6 pack abs and the hole thing

Hey Grub, my hair hasn’t been that short since my mother delivered me!

EZ Yeah I read something about him, he’s got his own website can’t remember his name…
Stonecutter I thought it was you with a haircut!

Hi Robo, I was an avid weight lifter come bodybuilder in the late forties up until I left Canada in the sixties. I read of all the old strongmen. The first set of store bought weights came from York. I got IronMan and muscle man magazine every month and had a great collecton at one time. However, those are just very fond memories, It is nice to have them brought alive by these photos and images.
DeeVee.

You have a gift for capturing the human form. Your clown was as real as it gets ,the Ringmaster sets the mood as you were trying to achieve and the strongman is another grand addition to an already brilliant and very well captured piece of work. Can’t wait to see the finished product. :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:
