newbie... just want to get started, need help

Hi, I just purchased zbrush 2.0… I got it over c4D, I hope, and am pretty sure I won’t regret the choice. O.K, I can get some morphing balls together to get the general shape of my figure, but after that I can’t get to the preview mode, wher it turns those balls into a mesh… so, what I do is add a material or texture, or try painting, and use some paint tools to twist it, but after I do that, it is stuck in 2.5 D… I want to rotate it and work from another angle… but the edit button seems to be unavailable? another thing is when I paint or edit something with an alfph, if I go off the object, it goes on to the canvas… how can you make it just stay on the object??? IF ANYONE, CAN HELP ME WITH ANY OF THESE THINGS OR JUST POINT ME IN A DIRECTION THAT WOULD BE AWSOME.! p.s i have two years with poser5, and experience with fractals and dream3D, so I am not totaly lost. p.s all the totorials seem to be just beyond the point I haven’t reached, sooooo… thank you one and all, if you’ve even taken the time to read this.

space ghost!

i am assuming from your post you bought z2?
If so you won’t regret it.

working with Zspheres…to preview the mesh use the “A” button. it allows you to toggle between zspheres and mesh. You can also click on preview in the tools: adaptive mesh: menu.

I highly recommend your going thru the Zscripts found in the help menu in Z2. They are well done and will teach you alot. Also you can download the Practical Guide…the link is not handy for me at the moment but you can get it from zbrush.com home page or do a search here in zcentral for practical guide. They will/should keep you busy for a few weeks at least!

hi welcome
and look here to check on your question why the edit btton not appears
also, in the quicklinks (you can enter them here in zbc over the button top right, is a big section answering all kind of questions every new user has in the beginnning … happy zbrushing

In the practical guide Glen Southern did a tut for a caveman looking dude which is ace, I had similar problems to you with ZB2 because I came from using Max which is also true 3D. Follow Glens tut & you’ll be flying.
