newbie help with subtool symetry and wacom setting please

Hi. I just can not seem to get drawing symetry to work in appended or inserted subtools. I have tried turning symetry button and local on and off. I still have symetry in the original tool. I tried smart resym. I have been trying all afternoon to find answers for this online but can’t figure it out, please help. Also does anyone know why my wacom pen which is set up with top button to open a radial menu refuses to do so even though I have it assigned to zbrush? Thanks.

Wacom cintiq companion 1st gen, windows 10, newest drivers.

Here is what I do:

Hide everything but the subtool you want to work on.
Click Transform > S Pivot
Click Transform > Activate Symmetry
Do your operations
Click Transform > C Pivot

Unhide other subtools

The set pivot moves the subtool relative to the others but clear pivot returns it it the original position.

Thank you very much JR, that did the trick on the symetry. I’m still having trouble getting my wacom pen button to open the radial menu that I assigned to it for zbrush or my rocker ring settings if anyone can help there please. It’s like zbrush is ignoring them, all my other apps work with an app specific set up.

To add to jrboddie’s excellent post: The problem you had happens when a SubTool gets moved off the centre axis, it’s just something we have to be aware of when working.

About your Wacom problem, last I read of this it was a bug in the latest Wacom driver for Windows 10. I’m not sure if it is resolved yet as Wacom pulled their EU support forum months ago and haven’t replaced it afaik.

Update: I just checked, the support forum is still down.

Thank you dillster. Yes I tried the wacom forum first on the tablet settings issue, very hard to let them know when there is an issue now. I just hope that if they sort it out they remember to update the drivers for my first gen companion as well as the new models.
