New Zbrush channel on irc: #z2 @ irc.quakenet.org

We started a new channel dedicated to ZBrush because we believe a great program like this can’t have enough people networking ideas and exchanging knowledge.

#z2 @ irc.quakenet.org

#z2 rules

Most of this should be clear, but we’re stating it anyway. Always keep in mind that #z2 is a HELP channel and that helping you is not compulsory. If people don’t want to help don’t get angry, they have other things to do as well.

  1. Speak English
  2. This is an international channel. As such, people should speak in a language that is spoken by most people. English is this language, so everybody in #z2 should speak it.
  3. No illegal stuff
  4. Don’t spread illegal software / movies / music / whatever in #z2. Don’t ask for them either.
  5. No public away / script / mp3 messages
  6. We don’t care why you’re not here. IRC is asynchronous, if people want to say something to you you can read it later. Also, we don’t care what music you’re playing. If we do, we’ll ask you. Besides, you can just silently set yourself away and if people message you they’ll know. (Read this if you still think you should use them.) Also, don’t amsg and don’t greet us every time you join/part. Adding “sry 4 amsg” doesn’t help either.
  7. No endless nickchanges
  8. Why do you need a new nickname every 15 minutes? This usually goes under “no public away”, and therefore shouldn’t be done.
  9. No advertisements
  10. We don’t want to idle in your new channel to get Q/L, we don’t want to see your new homepage, etc. Only advertise if your page really has something to do with Zbrush. Asking people to look at / judge your art is perfectly fine ofcourse.
  11. Don’t ask to ask
  12. If you have a question, just ask it. Be sure to give any details we might need in answering them, because things like “I need help with zspheres” and “Why does Zbrush crash?” are things we cannot answer.
  13. Don’t spam
  14. If you have a question, ask it once and only once. Don’t repeat it for every new person who joins. If people don’t answer, don’t get upset. They might just not want to answer right now. Try again later.
  15. Do not query people unasked
  16. The channel is there to help people. If your problem is solved in a private window, the next person who has this problem will need to ask again. Had you been assisted in the channel everybody would know. Needless to say the latter is the best option.
  17. Search!
  18. Many people don’t realise this, but nearly everything about Zbrush is covered in the manual / help files. First search there, then search Google or another search engine. If then still you can’t find your solution, ask.
  19. Do not ask things like “could someone make me [X]”
  20. We’re not your personal slaves. If you want it done, we can help you to do it yourself. Or you could pay for it.
  21. No meta questions
  22. Asking us “Who here uses Zbrush?” isn’t very useful. We could just say “Yes” or “No” and then you’d still have to ask us your real question. The same goes for “Anyone here?”. If anyone is here, they can answer your question. If they aren’t, then nobody will respond anyway.
  23. Don’t insult
  24. This should be clear, but here it is anyway: don’t insult other users on #z2.
  25. Don’t post distasteful links
  26. Should also be clear. Don’t post links that make people’s stomachs turn.
  27. Don’t be a wise guy
  28. If you’re good at Zbrush, good for you. Making people who are less good feel bad by telling them every question they ask is stupid, is not a nice thing to do. So don’t.
