This is inspired by Arran Lewis’s post in this thread, but it seemed impolite for me to respond fully in Northstarr’s thread, and Arran’s post really deserves a thread of its own
So, if I may ramble …
For me, those quotes really help to cut through the clutter, especially the idea: “focus on what you want, not what you fear”
The world is complex enough, but it seems that artists can be interested in so many things that they seek out even more stimuli and concepts
Which could easily lead to getting lost in the infinitely branching tree of knowledge, or becoming indecisive because of cosmo-spiritual conceptions or wanting to do things “exactly right” – and a lack of playfulness and daring
It’s good to know how to focus and unfocus, to dance and cook with the chaos and complexity, and to draw a circle of peace
Luckily, cats know how to sit in the yard and grass knows how to grow
Well, before this becomes even more diffuse, I had better wrap this up with a toast:
Best wishes to all beings for an enjoyable existence, and may we all make creative, playful and benevolent use of what comes our way
