New Video Tutorial for ZB by cgstripe goes live.

Stripe (ZB guru and all round decent chap) has released the first part today of his new tutorials set for ZB 2, which will show you the end to end process to model a complete complex character in real time. First up, if you havent seen CGStripe’s work (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=181616 ) then you should take a look. Second, its free, third… it has Voiceover.

Quick pointer #1 - Register is www.3d-palace.com/forums - click REGISTER
Quick pointer #2 - Codec is on the index main page for the forums (TSCC)
Quick Pointer #3 - As the additional parts come in, they will be added. I will augment this thread with images from it as well as possible use of emphatic words like “amazing”…etc.

Im a registered user there and the links are either dead or say No Access must login…but I’m ALREADY logged in so it’s a loop. Please fix the links.

When you are logging in, click “Keep me logged in” to ensure that you get our cookie that is fed to the downloader. Also check firewall apps and popup stoppers (the download window is a popup) and also check the forums at www.3d-palace.com if you have trouble as there are lots of links. n.b. I just tried it and the link works fine.

Nice tute… looking forward to the others

Well talk about timing…

Stripe,

All I can do for the moment is say thanks. But one day, I’d be honored to buy you a steak and a pint. I really needed to see your tutorial… As a recent Z2 fella having a rough start of it, this is a Godsend.

I am so looking forward to the next in your series.

Thanks for the effort and for filling me with new hope in learning this ‘Unique’
interface and proggy.

Grateful in New Jersey,

Brendang

Wish I could enjoy it. However the codec seems only Windows as usual. Tried searching and donloading something like the codec, but sound is unbelievably choppy.

Oh well, the rest of the Windows guys can enjoy and spin tales for all to hear.

Squid, the site encoding guy, has just told me that a mac version is on the way now and will hopefully be live ASAP. I will of course post to let you know as soon as it is though.

Cris

looks to me like the mac version is now available …

I’ve tried downloading the file several times. I keep getting the Download Complete window with 0 bytes in 1 sec.

I’ve also tried the Downloader File link. It opens a blank page except for the number 430 in the upper left corner.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
bisenberger

Are you registered?

And I had to turn off my download manager; I had no trouble after that.

oh yeah. and to play it, you have to download and install the codex, too.

by the way, imho, this vid is not really all that helpful. it’s just a few things about the interface most anyone who has played around w zbrush ought to already know.

but the forthcoming installments may be very worthwhile. at least i hope so.

Description

This tutorial is 11 megs long for PC version and 55 megs for Mac. It is free to download (as are all the ZBrush ones in this set) and it will show you (if you do not allready know) how to use and understand stencils in Zbrush.

Please do not download this if you are going to get confused that you allready know how to use stencils, then start a big ol forum rant…etc etc

There is a PC version as you will have guessed, encoded using the TSCC codec, and a Mac version which is in Mov format. Any questions, please feel free to contact us via the 3d-palace forums or via here.

One again… nice one. I’ve read everything there is to know about stencils, but your tutorials are well paced, and enjoyable to watch. They’re a good reminder  Cheers.

great tut! thx!

Yeah, nice.:+1:

  BTW, for future reference.

The Elvavation button shows the stencils influence relative to the alpha falloff. This is displayed by lines whose color gradate to show that influence (white lines having full influence on an object while black lines have very little to no influence). This goes true for any color you decide to display the stencil in. Albeit red, green, or whichever takes your fancy, I feel the default white shows it best.

  Keep em comin.

  Cheers.

Hi MTB,

Thank you for your BTW on the meaning of the elevation button and full grayscale alpha stencils… I always wondered about that.

Sven

Hey Stripe my man thanks for the tuts, just what the Dr ordered, certainly helped me in a few areas.
Looking forward to the follow ups in this group of tuts.

Love your art too btw

Cheers n Beers

Thanks for the tutorial stripes, this is very useful to new zbrushers. I have downloaded the first part of the mac version, but when I try to download part 2, I get the same tutorial downloading again (the interface). Is there a problem with the link or is part 2 not ready yet?

Mic

I’ve been trying to get the first avi to play but nothing seems to work. Windows media player will not play it and quicktime will not play it, only audio. What sort of file is it? I even tried bsplayer but nothing seems to work… Maybe i should trie to download it once more, maybe the file is corrupt… Advise welcome…

The mac version will play using quicktime (although at the moment the links to part one and part two download the same movie, just waiting to see why this is). If you are downloading the avi for use on a pc, then you also need to download a codec from the site in order to view the movie.
