Hey all, I plan on creating and releasing a complete set of video tutorials for you guys. Throw some ideas at me for the project and also any techniques you would like to learn, I want to include as many as I can as I have something cool planned for this tut along with giving it freely here! So throw em out!
Yea, so I am very green when it comes to Zbrush. I have several years under my belt using Maya for modeling and I want to push my skills to that next level. I have heard several nightmares in reference to brining in an obj model and then doing all of the killer details with Zbrush, and then trying to bring them back to maya for mapping. I heard it has something to do with over lapping uv’s that were created in Maya? Is there any way you can do a simple demo on how to create a simple model nothing fancy in Maya, UV it and take it to Zbrush an then back again. I guess the proper work flow is what I am looking for. If you could do that it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Absolutley Im a maya user myself, and I can show you easily how to go about doing this without losing any detail to your zb mesh! Any other ideas?
Hey thanks shandaman, I was also wondering about how to incorporate blend shapes into my Maya Model. Are the blend shapes created first in Zbrush and then exported out separately then connected to your mesh in Maya. A tutorial on that would also be extremely helpful. I am just now starting to create a character and have it ready for a character rigging class that is starting in a few days. I was hoping to have the model ready so I can take full advantage of the class. So any advice or help is always greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

I for one am kind of sick and tired of Head Sculptures and Monsters. Being that Zbrush is a Paint program (with sculpting tools), I would be interested in tutorials that show Zbrush as a complete (start to finish) Painting program utilizing the 2D, 2.5D, and 3D tools for the purpose of producing a painting.
I’ve gathered all the links to "painterly’’ and illustrative techniques, as well as have the Meats Meier DVD’s. But I would like to see more approaches from different artists.
Thanks for your intrest guys, I will try to include as much of zbrush as I can, I will look into using zbrush for a actual painting but while I do, I’ll work on a 3d related series.
Ok cc909, I think what I will do is not focus on zbrushs modeling techniques and abbilities but rather how it works with Maya. I will show how to create a simple base mesh, do a little bit of sculpting in zbrush just to show how to create a displacement map / normal map. Then taking our model back to maya, Rigging it, Applying the displacement and normal map. Then Posing our character, I will also cover how to immport the model back to zb after it is posed. Hows that sound? And of course uv mapping it.
I have moved the thread to this forum because it is not a tutorial. Only completed tutorials should be placed in the Tutorials forum. Thanks.
alright np!
Wow shandaman that sounds fantastic! That’s way more than I was ever expecting but is incredible nun the less. I can wait to see the movie.

Ok it will be several movies, Prolly around 5 hours or so worth of content when done so I’ll start on the videos. I will make a new thread in the tut section when I start them. I decided that the model to be done will be a cartoonish type fish, that way I can show some modeling of maya and sculpting details in zb, along with texturing in zb and photoshop using zaappalink.
Then Ill show how to create a quick rig, and then pose the char and bring it back to zb to check for any stretchng and what not.
