Just been looking at the same topic myself and the consensus seems to be that as ZB uses only your CPU, to focus on that. As many cores as poss and decent RAM, more than 4gB,
just so the rest of your computer some spare to play with.
You can also go into preferences > men and crank up the RAM usage to something higher than the 256 by default. Do a multithreading optimisation as well, also in preferences.

How much does it improve performance anyways ?
however the new computer question is also quite related to other applications (like marmoset for example which I can not even run), or handling bigger obj’s (in my case 7mil polys) in other applications (modo, maya…).
But yea… new machine is what I need for sure.
