Need tip on sculpt cloth without penetration

To achieve realism, I try to give cloth thickness, which arrived at the problem. When I have a cloth mesh that has a thickness meaning extruded all face or added a shell in Max. After through into Zbrush and start sculpting, the inner faces always penetrate through and become problematic down the road. Is there any good tips on how to avoid this from happening? The thinner the fabric is, the harder it is to void it from happening. Thanks in advance.

I think in the brush palette in masking you can try backface automasking

Tried using BackfaceMask under Brush->AutoMasking->BackfaceMask? Not that great but it helps in some situations.

Wish there was a way to add thickness in Zbrush instead of doing a shell 3dsmax first.

I’m a very new user, but theres also mesh extract and you can add thickness there for sure.

Yes, It would’ve been very nice be able to add thickness after you finish sculpting the cloth with no thickness. Dealing with surface in close proximity is so much trouble. Thanks for the tips.

holyjewsus that a good idea. Tried it on a plane and it works. So one can just sculpt on a single sided cloth and then later mesh extract for final details etc… thks
