Need help, please.

ZBrush will not open for me. Every time I click it, a series of alerts pop up and then a “Zbrush has caused an error in ZBRUSH.EXE” message comes up. The alerts are saying they cannot find things in the temporary internet files. I deleted my ZCfg150.cfg file, but that did not help. I restarted my computer, and that did nothing. Please help! :frowning: Thanks.

Hello,

What version are you using and are you sure you don’t need to get a new temp serial number?.

I am using 1.5 and I know I need a new serial number. I have that already. The problem is that the program does not open at all to even let me type it in.

Hi

You may have installed ZBrush in a temporary internet folder (most likely your default download folder ) and some of the files may have been deleted by a regular operating-system maintenance. If you still have the ZBrush executable but it refuses to ‘run’, it may indicate that the ZBrush resource file is missing (ZRescv151.ZRS), try to reinstall ZBrush in a new folder and only copy the resource file to your current ZBrush folder and launch ZBrush, if it does not work then you will need to use the newly installed ZBrush folder instead of your current temporary folder.

If you have important files in the current ZBrush folder, you may want to move them out of the temporary internet folder to prevent further loss.

Hope this helps,
-Pixolator

Oops. Pixolator beat me to you while I was typing.

Thanks for the help, but it did not seem to work :frowning: Okay, here’s everything.

When I downloaded the 1.5 upgrade, I downloaded it to C:\Downloads. Then I unzipped it into my folder C:\unzipped. Everything has been working fine, except for whenever it needed a new serial number. When the clocks changed, of course it needed yet another serial number. I sent in the request and received the new one today. When I went to open it, the messages did say something about ZResources missing on the temporary internet files folder. The ZRescv151.ZRS is in the folder with ZBrush already. I tried reinstalling 1.5, but the same error messages popped up in the new one. I tried deleting the configuration, the .mem, and the .zrs file, hoping the problem was one of them. None of that worked, so I changed the names back to normal. Ugh! The image below is of the files I still have.

This is the first of many messages that comes up.

I re-installed ZBrush twice and tried all the renaming tricks. Is there anything else I can do? If it helps, I am working with Windows ME. :frowning: Thank you for your help.

Edit:
Oops, I forgot to mention that after the first re-installation, the missing files were in Common Files. I am getting so confused! sigh

You do have all the needed files  simply locate the ZBrush folder and move it to the root level of your C (or another work drive ) directory and retry.

i think your COPYING your zbrush.exe file for your main.
to fixs it RIGHT Click your ZBRUSH.EXE and chose CREATE SHORT CUT.
take the short cut and place it were you want.
you can copy your zbrush.exe it will give the error your showing but if you make it a SHORT CUT you will be just fine.

Sometimes when you create a shortcut, depending on how you did it, you might have to specify a “start in” directory in the properties sheet. For zbrush, this should be the zbrush directory.

It seems as if you have all the files, but zbrush is looking in the wrong place.

Thank all of you for your help! I moved my files to the C drive like Pixolator suggested. I made a shortcut to ZBrush and hand it start in the right folder. It was looking in the wrong places before :stuck_out_tongue: Well, now I am happy  So far so good. ZB seems to be running fine now! Thanks!

i can’t open the zbrush either, it says that it is missing the “ZResources” file, and actually this file do not exist on my computer. it keep saying the same and i can’t open the zbrush :frowning:
