Need help painting material

Newbie here,

Hope I’m in the right place for asking a question.

Regarding the 6th video in the training series —

ZCLASSROOM / GETTING STARTED / GETTING STARTED WITH MAXON ZBRUSH / TYPES OF BRUSHES

Given by Ana Carolina Pereira

At the 3:53 mark (Three minutes and fifty three second mark) ——

Ana shows how you can paint with a material or matcap

In this part of Ana’s video, the gold material is only applied to where she makes a stroke with the brush.

PROBLEM IS ————

As soon as I select the gold material, the entire sphere immediately turns gold

More fully said — I don’t even get the chance to try and make a gold colored stroke as the entire sphere is already gold before I can even make a stroke with the brush.

The sphere I am using is one I double clicked on from within the LightBox / Project window called DefaultProject.ZPR. It is a PolySphere

I have initialized ZBrush around a dozen times and tried numerous things.

But have not been able to make it work as shown in Ana’s video.

What do I need to do to reproduce what I see Ana doing in the video regarding painting with a material ?

Also, before trying to paint a material, I made sure that a material was applied to the entire sphere and that still left me high and dry. Still couldn’t find a way to paint a material using a brush.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I came across how to do it

In the USER GUIDE
Under Materials
Under Materials for 3D models

It goes over how to embed a base material,
which will allow for selecting a different material to use for painting
