Need help in zBrush, please advise.

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

How do I place an image I already have on a polyMesh in zBrush to use as a reference image, then afterward use Projection Painting to paint on top of my reference image using it as a guide?

I have sculpted in zBrush for a few years, yet when my sculpt is done I usually export it out. This time around I want to finish the entire project I am working on - in zBrush, instead of exporting out to do texture/material work. So anyway, to quickly recap my question -

I want to put a image on my polyMesh, then I want to be able to use projection painting to paint the “final” (soon to be) texture on my mesh.

If you know how to do this, please advise. Thanks again for reading this post.

Are you familiar with the Spotlight feature?

Wow its been a long week…lol :stuck_out_tongue:

SpotLight is what I meant to say when I said “projection painting” in zBrush.

Sorry for the confusion. So, to recap, I want to use spotlight after applying my reference image to my object. Sorry again for the confusion. :o

Thanks for any help.

well the answer is to use spotlight. other than that i don’t understand what you are asking.

load a texture into your texture palette, go up top to the texture menu and click on “add to spotlight”, then align your mesh with the image. using the standard brush, deactivate “zadd” leaving only rgb active. brush over the image and it will be painted onto the mesh.

toggle Z on your keyboard to activate and deactivate spotlight.

I just got sick of not being able to move forward in my project, so I went out and bought Mari. It does exactly what I cant figure out how to do in zBrush (if zBrush can do it at all)…O well, thanks anyway.
