Napoleon Flintlock Pistol

Hi Guys… here is the completed version of the pistol i was working on a while back … in order to show my appreciation to the CG community, i have included a breakdown and source files for my project on gumroad for free. I will be adding the zbrush sculpt for $1 if anyone is interested. Thanks for viewing and enjoy;)

I really like the materials!

THanks for the processs you sharing.
if you don’t mine could you answer where you usually get curvature map?

I always bake curvature map in Substance Designer.
I only use SD for baking curvature map…so I want to know another way to get it,

Hi Papagersi,

Big fan of your work ~ ! Really love the stuff you do.

Regarding the curvature map, you can generate it from xNormals as well. The results are not bad =D
Hope that helps

Cheers Mate ~ !

Really awesome details and matierials, very like it.

Congratulations on your work and your tutorial. It has been a pleasure to examine it closely from Gumroad.

That’s overall beautiful.

Excellent work here, and thanks for the generosity of sharing your scene with us.

Would you please elaborate a bit on your process for projecting your detail alphas as masks onto your mesh?

I can think of several different ways to get an alpha into a mask, but you achieved very clean results and I would be grateful to learn the steps you took for this process. Thank you!

@cdizzle

Thanks ~! Glad you like it.

Well my process for the projection is really simple. All you need to make sure is that you have enough geom density to support the projection. Sometimes you can try sharpening the mask in ZBrush after projecting but i usually prefer a little blurness to the edges. I generally use the deformation/extrude or transpose to pull the details out. All masks are manually drawn in photoshop. In some situation where the details are not good enough, i will clean up the mask by manually drawing over the screwed up areas. In summary just make sure you have enough geom and your mask will be clean.

All the best to you future projects and i hope i answered your questions. Cheers Mate ~!

Thank you very much for the reply and well wishes. Looking forward to seeing more great work from you in the future. Cheers!

Super awesome breakdown! Thanks for sharing!
