Nanomesh placement

Is it possible to remove certain instances of a nanomesh after it has been created ? Say I have a plane with 6 nano instances, can I delete just one of them ?

Yes, once you convert the nanos to live geometry (Namoesh > Inventory> One to mesh). Until then they don’t exist as live geometry, but you can control their placement by masking portions of the mesh you don’t want them to appear on, or by excluding those polygons from your selection before drawing them out.

You can also delete, or change the polygroup of, the underlying polygon with ZModeler. This will make the nano on top of it disappear if you don’t mind altering your target object.

I tried changing the underlying polygroup but strangely it does not reflect on the nanomesh both with nanomesh “off” and in “edit placement” mode. Maybe because my nanomesh is based on a 100000plus point mesh, probably not what nanomesh is made for. The workaround with just reapplying the nano works though. Thanks Spyndel !
