Nanomesh help. Poly increase causing random placement.

Hi!

So I searched around but couldn’t find anyone else with this problem.

I have a nanomesh brush I created that is around 6000 polys. Now when I draw it out onto the face, of say a 20 polygon object, it works fine, each object appears on each face, but when I draw it out onto a larger version of that same thing, say 11,000 poly object, the nanomesh goes random all of a sudden instead of coming out of each face (This is with the correct and same settings as the 20 poly object). I have no idea why!!

I tested out this same thing with a standard nanomesh cube and the problem didn’t appear. I then tested with out with other nanomesh’s I created and the problem came back.

Has anyone run into this or know how to solve the problem?

Thanks!

Hello ibycus

This is because there is a limit of polygons for Nanomesh. With what you are trying to do the result would be 66 Million. The randomness when you reach the polygon limit is on purpose.

I would recommend polygrouping off your model into 2 or 4 polygroups then use the Polygroup All option in the brush. You will be able to copy and paste the NanoMesh preferences to make sure all of them match.

Hope that helps.
