Mythical Turtle

Hi,

This model once was a self portrait. But I think I could better not tell you that… I was inspired by a Gnomon DVD and made a image derived from a picture of myself. Made a model of it in XSI exported it to Zbrush and am now at this stage. Needs still a lot of work though… What do you think? What should be modified? Please let me know…
Thanks in advance,

Joost

I didn’t like the model enough. So went back to XSI and remodeled the neck. And am now detailing the model.

Little update

Well, I think the geometry is nearly finished. Have to break the symetry but that would be it.
Oohh by the way. It will become a mystical turtle. Some kind of mythology creature…
Here’s what it looks like right now:

 I really like the patterns on his face :+1:

Thanks for the compliment. What part of the pattern?? I’m wondering if I should do the whole neck that way… but maybe it get a little overdone…
Anyway almost at the point where I should start texturing (which is something I’m not good at…:()

Joost

Find some sparetime to detail the head a little more.
Not really sure if it’s any good… Let me know what you think…

Good work man!Really like the disp. map.

See you in cyberspace.

MattHHH:cool:

Good work and very deatiled model  nice stuff, man.

it looks very good to me!

Alex Oliver

OK thanks! Now I have to prepare all the other symbols…
Boring!!
Joost

Cool! Love the lumps down the back of the neck and the forehead detail, but is very humonid for a turtle.

Well it’s supposed to be some kind of “never-ending-story” creature. There’s a complete story behind the creature but I won’t bother you with that…

Joost

really good job

Well, finally found some spare time do begin with texturing. And like I said before, I’m not good at it. Here’s a little update. Advice/critics are more than welcome!
BTW how do I get rid of the streaks on the neck (I know I can paint over it but I actually ment: how do I prevent them?)

another update…

Hallo Joost, goed model!!

keep on going

altijd leuk om nederlanders tegen te komen.
The stripes are gone by now but I had to export the model to XSI again to realign the UV’s. Unique UV’s left so much of the texture area untouched that I decided to rearrange them by hand. Got bored by the process and decided to find another method. Found one in blender called “lscm uv mapping” which works very well. So the new UV’s are all decently aligned. Only drawback is that I have to redo all the texturing.

Joost

Had to redo the whole uv process and texturing… Rendered in XSI.
