my Zbrush (Sarge and Orc Bust)

This is my first time posting on zbrushcentral.

this is an orc ive been doing, the idea was to create a design sculpt of a character much like an artist would make a maquette or bust in traditional clay on a production.

The character is and orc (from moria) with big eyes from being deep underground, an older kind of dude and a leader of some sort, he has the scars from the fight he had with the previous leader.

all critiques welcome, he’s just about done the only thing i havent fully flushed out is the ears.

thank you for taking a look and i look forward to hearing from you.

:b2: Great design, I like how you crafted a more thin looking variant than the usual hulking “wow” style orcs you commonly see. It’s very Tolkienish.
:b2: Love the detail and design of the mouth and jaw area.

:b4: I’d do some more work on the brow and upper eye-lid region to give it a more realistic look and bring it to the same quality as the rest of the sculpt.

:qu: Is this just a bust or a full body model.

thank you very much.

I will definitely tighten up the upper eye region, I am not happy with it.
I was thinking of adding more of a fold over the lid itself.

This is just a bust, one of a few that I am doing.

Nice work on the Orc head…I like the pores and details you put on him.

I agree with the brow for the most part im loving the idea, can wait to see the finished product. Keep it up man and think about going all out with it I’d love to see it as a full body model but the bust is coming along.

It’s like, if that guy from prison break met bruce willis - and they had a baby. And then, meanwhile, that crazy master-chief by kolby jukes and sarge from quake III met and had a baby. And… by some miracle, those two babies met, and ****ed - This would be the **** that they birthed.

-tightening up this model for my portfolio, I’m posting it for critiques. Originally he had a cigar in the mouth, I can’t make up my mind. The idea is a newish version of sarge from Quake III.

Very very nice head…I like his scar…quite realistic there! :+1: :+1:

thank you man.
I poly painted him for fun.

i painted an eye in photoshop and composited the zdepth with reflection and a gauss blur.

nice work man ,i like the details, the last one reminde me of Kolbyjukes bust:+1:

Loving the detail on both characters expecially the skin on the human character (definitely want to ask a few questions about your process :D)

keep up the excellent work :+1:

thank you guys very much.

while sculpting i found the kolby jukes bust and looked at it all the time, im glad somethings spilled over. I don’t know exactly why but I think that might be my favorite sculpt ever.

ZedHead- I’d by happy to answer any questions you have, and I’d like for you guys to point out some things you think could be better.

thanks again for your comments

Kolby Jukes is fantastic inspiration to draw from, but you are skilled enough that your own creations really stand out. great job. :+1:

Simply amazing realism on the skin texture! What did you use to get that fine grit texture? Is that done with alpha maps?

thank you Tristikov

im not sure if you mean tactile texture or color texture

but his skin is all zbrush alphas, the dots one scattered and a standard with noise. there is one alpha i used at the end to break up the the loose wrinkles under the eye the forehead and nasal labial fold and that was a leather texture i got from cgtextures.

the color is polypainting but when i rendered it within zbrush at “best” and it adds an uneven noise to the shadows which is nice but it wasn’t intentional.

also, one more sculpting bit - i very much like to go over the skin that slides around like the forehead especially and the brow and cheekbone with a big blobby alpha and the opacity scatter brush on a low level to get an uneven lumpiness. it makes the skin look less fatty and more used and really breaks up the form, even going over the nose and chin. places like cheek and around the mouth i intentionally make smoother and fatty.

thanks again for your comment.

nice work:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:
