My virgin post

Hi guys,
My first ever post. Here are a couple of shots of my work in progress using 3DS MAX 7 and Zbrush 2.
Critiques are most welcome.

Based on the cave troll from LOTR but I would love to fit it out with some mechanical appendages and give it a massive gun and some armour.

could u post a singly shot of the troll? Because the models are a little small on the pics. but what a can see looks very good.

I kinda like the eyes being small and beady on him. Makes him look a bit unintelligent. Plus being a cave troll I imagine light would hurt his eyes.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick update on my troll. Im in the process of adding the surface detail to the skin. This is the first time I have really applied myself to the surface detail rather than just going over the mesh with a preset alpha brush.
I’m learning heaps as I go but its obviouse that I still have plenty more to learn about different techniques for detailing. Any comments or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I finally got some time last night to add a bit more detail into the head. I tweaked one of the images to highlight the detail on the head by posterising edges in photoshop. Any comments would be great.close head mesh.jpg

Hi all,
Been a while since I have had a chance to do any more adjustments to the troll due to work but have recently added some more detail to his body and added some deep scars to his hide. Not to sure about the scars. They dont look quite right but am unsure what I should do to improve them.shoulder scar.jpg

Does anyone know how to use the Zapplink tool? I have got it to export the image across to photoshop but cannot get it to go back into Zbrush. I save over the material from photoshop but it doesnt transfer. How does it work?

Spent a bit of time rigging this guy last night while waiting to watch Australia play Itali in the soccer.
I physiqued a low poly version of the troll and then used the skin wrap modifier on the high poly troll.
The physique was litterally a matter of 10 minutes work, once I set up the biped, using the skin wrap technique. Still need to refine it but it seems to be working well so far.
