Hi.
Thank u for the test with displacement between poser and zbrush.
But some steps r missing. ;-(
how did u export the displacement file. u got 2 imagefiles. how do you get two displ. files for the negativ and positiv value in poser?
Did u ever take some morph object from poser and imported this in zbrush. do some modification with displacement and then import these in poser 7?
Would like to here what exactly u doing. I guess the dog comes from zbrush sample and not from poser?
The forum is full of some explanation for morph targets and so on, but never a good tutorial how to do it in the right workflow. How to begin in Poser - go to zbrush and then back to poser.
Maybe u r the one who knows it best, because u using both programs.

hope to hear from u soon.

Martin.

not sure if ancomic used this or not but there should be two scripts available via the alpha menu …edit/load curves that will allow you to alter your alpha/displacement…pos & neg…and save them out…I recommend you save out the original to safe place first.

zOn!

Hi, mk010769.
I do not English well.

  1. Poser 7 - Export OBJ

Hi.
Thanx for the screenshots and the example.

Do i realy have to go to UV-Mapper and make these changes?
What if i need all faces from the object and there is allready a UV-Map, may i skip this point and go directly to zbrush?
In my case i do change the head of APOLLO in zbrush. So i need the whole head in zbrush, do a morph target, but also wanna make eye wrinkles and so on. Therefor i need the displacement-map.
U or any of the reader think u can give me hints about that?

Next Step is, that i wanna go to VUE 6 and load the poser-Figure + the displacement map. I think thats a great challange for everyone. ;-))

Thanx for the answer in this threat. I hope this would be the one and only that shows the right workflow between poser and zbrush. For Vue i think i have to open a new one. ;-))

Martin.

1. ZBrush 3.1 - Import OBJ and Displacement Export(Material part only)

UVMapper

  1. UVMapper - Assign Selection to Group

ZBrush

  1. Import OBJ
  2. Delete Hidden
  3. Texture:UV Check
  4. Morph Target:Store MT
  5. Divide 4
  6. Sculpting
  7. Divide 1
  8. Morph Target:Switch
  9. Displacement:Create Displacement
  10. Alpha Depth Factory(Value Memory)
  11. Load PositiveDisplacement.ZCV
  12. Make Modified Alpha
  13. Load NegativeDisplacement.ZCV
  14. Make Modified Alpha
  15. PositiveDisplacement(Flip V) Export
  16. NegativeDisplacementt(Flip V) Export

2. ZBrush 3.1 - Import OBJ and Displacement Export(Body or Head only)

ZBrush

  1. Import OBJ
  2. Texture:UV Check
  3. Morph Target:Store MT
  4. Divide 4
  5. Sculpting

  13. Make Modified Alpha
  14. PositiveDisplacement(Flip V) Export
  15. NegativeDisplacementt(Flip V) Export

Very Interesting, I’ve had some success with Poser and normals but nothing that was earth shattering, but I’m picky!I 'll have a go at this.

Where did you get this quick code from and do you have to flip anything after the quick code?

Cool! Very nice test!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi, DarkEdge.

I am sorry.
I do not know the quick code.
I do not know the word which as the quick code.
Is it Attached the screenshot for quick code?

Hello again.

So my problem is, that i need these 2 Zcurve (positiv + negativ displacement.zcv) from zbrush 2. In zbrush 3 these r not available. I guess i have to find them.

But i have another question about the UV-Mapper. I don´t know if i realy need this step? If i do a texture:UVCheck in zbrush 3 i will see red overlapping UVs.
Can i ignore these or do i have to fix it in UV-Mapper for the displacements in Zbrush3? I don´t want to change the UVs because then it is no longer compatible with the original material-maps in poser, right?

I will check the steps as u discribed, but i think there is more to explain then the points you write in your tutorial.

Alpha Depth Factor is important. But how do i know which factor i have to put in? U did 3,8… but why?

Thank u and everyone that let this thread live, because i think it is the only good one for poser and zbrush 3 users.

Martin.

ps DarkEdge:

No the Quickcode is the default one. There were no changes for this tutorial.

Hi, mk010769.
I am Sorry. I do not English well.

Poser_Dis_Test_12.jpg

To answer your question about the Alpha Factor, it appears from ancomic’s image that he took the Alpha Depth Factor from ZBrush and in Poser moved the decimal point one place to the left. So, instead of 3.8 it reads .38 (i’m probably only stating the obvious since ancomic’s last post )

As for the MD3 quick code, In my test I used the default displayed above, but simply turned on Seamless, Smooth, and Vertical Flip and it turned out great.

What the heck is an alpha depth factory?
You say that is in ZB3 ?
What is thie z Curves folder…I don’t have that and I have zb3.
???
I’m not doubting your word, I just can’t find them.

Thanks

Hi, DarkEdge.
My Pixologic and ZCurves folder…
C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush2\ZCurves
I don’t know!
