My Sister And Me

Little backup story…
My sister and I escaped our willage before the calamity struck and took everything we hold dear.
We made it to the Shallow river when these things started swarming out of pitch black.
It would surely be our end to if my sister didn’t brought the Mateus Light of our holy church, which was erased in big fire that night.
I will never forget that night, as long as I live…

This image was created for my sisters birthday present.

I made it in zbrush(modeling,rendering)
Composited and fine tuned in photoshop.

C&C welcomed.

What? No comments on this piece?

I really like the posing in here. A lot of work went into this, I believe.

My main crit is it needs more color. It will help with the drama and add more depth to the image. Making the glow a bit more golden maybe?

In any case, I really like this work and want to see more…

Dickie

wow! great story telling on this one. I like the difference poses as well, it makes the scene very dynamic. Excellent piece!

amazing :+1:

Air,

I’m posting a mod of your image to illustrate what i was talking about in my previous post.

I took your original image, duplicated it and tweaked the color saturation about 30% and then used overly on that layer. This faded the edges a bit and brought out your colors while adding contrast.

I then just overlayed a blue gradient ring using the vivid light settings in that layer. This brought out the feeling of night a bit more.

Then I added an orange gradient ball in another layer in overlay mode, thus adding an orange glow to the Mateus Light.

The final layer was the orange ball layer cloned and dragged down over the water to add a slight warm glow to the edges of the water highlight in front of the children.

That’s it, 10 minutes of Photoshop and it shows what you can do to your work to add some depth and color to really make it shine.

I REALLY like this piece and want to see more of your work, Air…

Sincerely,

Dickie

WOW

Nice to see a piece with action and movement in it.

Great job. Keep it up.

This is a really nice composition. Did you model the characters too?

super nice work ! :+1:
I love the first one better…

That is the most amazing work of art i have seen yet. its nice to see something with a background and meening to it

great job! I love how you individualized each creature, you’ve managed to create lot of depth to each one.

Kudos

This is very cool. I love the motion of the piece!

Thanks for sharing,

NickZ.

This is a great peace of work. Very well made.

Although I see where Dickie is comming from, I prefer the original posted image. I think the issue is her hair is so white, it kind of blends into the shining light she is holding and knocks the two main characters into to background a bit.
But that is really just a personnal preference on what it otherwise a well deserved top row image.

Well done!

Great composition a i r ! could you show us a bit of make of ??
And I think Dickie did a great job as well with tuning the image

Just love this dramatic image and the background story you wrote for it. Not often people take time explaining the story behind their characters.

Two things though… your first render and postwork in photoshop is in my eyes a better version than Dickie posted. I like his version too but think that the image is too saturated in it´s colors…

Second…congratulations to top row but I think it´s kind of sad to see Dickies personal version of your work getting to top row… I assume this is a mix up from the forum moderators but it would be more fair if your own rendering was placed there instead.

Other than that…Exellent work!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

…invasion :sunglasses:
Amazing composition :+1:
I had believed in viewing speedy the first image, that was a view 3D to see with glasses “red blue”

PS and funny that is the first time that a top menu is an image recolorized by some one else

amazing!!! really great ,love it!

Alex Oliver

really nice . love it.:+1:

Superb! Lots of hard work in your piece.

Wow!

First time I’ve ever seen the ‘Top Row’ posted as what another artist thought the original work should look like… (!)

No offense Dickie, I certainly vote with the rest that the moderators should stick to the artist’s own initial work–or the artist’s own submitted modification–for the Top Row teaser image.

This really reminds me of a shot from pitch dark where the carniviourous critters have snuck up on the guy and he lights up a lighter or something and sees what is about to rip him to shreds, this one seems a little freindlier.
