My shot at a greek sculpture (Nudity)

Hey all,

We had an assignment in school, to sculpt the Doryphoros.
This is my shot at it, rendered using Mental ray:
Maya Render.jpeg

Posing it took a very long time, but I didn’t get to fine detail in the sculpting process. Also I put very little time into sculpting the face.

I’ll be happy to hear comments and critiques!

Hope you enjoy this.

Nice sculpting man, I just would recommend some anatomy improvement, and maybe you didn’t notice, but your model has no navel. But you are on the way, keep going. ^^

Thanks for the reply

Could you be more specific about the anatomy?
My focus was, of course, copying the sculpture best I could.
The roman copy I was working with had only a very slight engraving of a navel, which is why I didn’t put it on there. Regarding anatomy in general, at this moment I can’t notice anything not resembling the anatomy on the sculpture, so I’d be happy to hear what’s not accurate enough so I can fix it.

Thanks!

It’s nothing bad, the anatomy is pretty nice, everything is in place, I just think that the external oblique muscle is a bit bulged and the arm is a bit thick too.
But it looks very close to the sculpture, it’s Doryphoros from Polykleitos if I’m not wrong

Regarding the oblique - yeah, I’ve been told before. I guess I’m the only one who doesnt see it

And the hand - well, maybe you have a point there.

Thanks
And yes, it’s the Doryphoros. Personally I’d have liked to sculpt the Lacoon and his sons, but that’d be too much for a school assignment I guess.
