my model is not symmetrical anymore

I noticed, while editing my model in the lowest subdivision, that the points didn’t line up when using mirror symmetry. In other words, one of the points, the left point for example, didn’t fall on a vertex when the right point did.The model was symmetrical to begin with and have no idea how this may have happened.

I’m at work so I can’t put up a screenshot at the moment. I tried unify, smart resym, and resym, nothing worked. The only thing I can think of is importing the highest subdivision back into Maya, deleting half of the faces, try and get it lined up and centered (as it’s off on the X, Y, and Z axis), mirror it, export back into Zbrush, and re-construct the lower sub-divisions. Do I have any other options someone might know of?

Here is a screenshot I took from the thread I put up on CGTalk.

have you tried going under transform and clicking set pivot (ctrl-p)? maybe your model just isnt in the middle of the canvas, but this will fix it more than likely.

Yup, tried that one already, no joy.

have you tried masking the half you like and pressing smart sym or resym?

Thanks skylertonne, it worked! I gave up and just tried to manually line everything up as much as I could by moving vertices for about an hour…but your fix works much better. Now that I think of it, it makes sense that I would first have to mask off half of the model then hit one of the sym buttons. Thanks again.

Don’t forget when you resym to have it at the lowest lvl of division

So helpful you guys. Thanks for the reminder!
