I’m new to zBrush and I was experimenting with my first model, I worked on it for about an hour, saved it to my desktop and after opening it back up this has happened -
I really don’t want to lose this so any help would be appreciated!

Somehow you got a flat color snapshot of the model. Just press Ctrl+N which, when you’re in Edit Mode, will delete all pixols from the canvas to leave just the model that is being edited.
By the way, why are you running 4R7 instead of 4R7 P3? You’re missing updates and bug fixes. Follow the steps here: https://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/instructions/
