this is looking good alexis… isn’t it great to finally have zBrush running on your machine native?

I think the modeling is looking really good so far. my only critique from this point would be to maybe look at how some of the others are creating hair on their animals. right now the texture is too much like a rough skin vs a hair. gorillas have longer, strand-like hair similar to rough human hair.

I think there may actually be some king kong sculpts on the forum somewhere you may find by searching.

great work and keep it up! i can’t wait to get back to my zbrushing at home. i’ve only gotten to start one model so far.

cheers,
holto

Thank you Holto )
We have sooo posibilitys now with ours ZBROSX )
I think that i can learn and learn now
evry day
A lot of things to do )
Thank you again for your replies

First of all, this an excellent first sculpt man! I can tell you’re going to learn and get better quickly. Nice attention to detail, on the hair, its hard to recreate hair. I like to use the slash tool for hair. The head seems a little too big but other than that I like what I’m seeing. Keep it up man! :+1: :+1:

Thank you Benjw !!
I think that 5 hours by day now i look how the real artist sculpt the beautiful things in this forum ).
Thanks for advise for Slash Tool

Hi Alexis!

You say ‘I know it is not something special’, but I beg to differ with you!

I think it is very special indeed! Especially for a first sculpt! You are very talented, and if this is your first work I think we will see great things from you!

I can’t speak to the sculpting so much, as I am a newbie just learning ZBrush on the Mac too - but I can comment a little on the anatomy if I may.

The great apes do indeed have a high, pointy skull as your does, but it is hard to tell without seeing a profile view. I’m guessing it’s pretty accurate! Overall, I’d say this is very good anatomically. All I would add is that the mouth is a little too ‘human’. As you can see from the picture, the lips wrap around the muzzle a bit more, and the whole nose/mouth/jaw area is forward prominently.

Please remember though that all art is, of course, very subjective - so your ape can be anything you want it be, and look any way you want!

Thanks for posting! Excellent work! I’ll be looking forward to seeing more!
