This is my first attempt at sculpting a character in Zbrush. I got the program recently, watched some tutorials and so far loving it. I still got a lot of practice to do especially with anatomy, but I was wondering what methods people used to make skin look more realistic. Do some artists use preset or custom brushes to create the look of skin? or is it like other 3D software where you insert an image?
Hi @Sunfell
Yes and yes. Some artist do use custom brushes or custom alphas to create skin texture. The ZBrush Library has a number of skin-related alphas available for download:
The Spotlight texturing system can also be used to transfer both color information and surface detail to a mesh from a loaded image.
Noisemaker can be used to add procedurally generated surface detail to a mesh to augment the look.
Good luck!
Interesting I’ll check those out. Thank you so much!
