These two models are the very first projects I’ve finished in Zbrush. I’m new to the program and modeling in general. I think that under the circumstances, I did a pretty good job. I modeled both faces from a low poly mesh I made from 3 z-spheres. Unfortunately, I only have 512MB of ram, so I couldn’t go above 400,000 polygons. Some dodge and burn and the eye glow in the demon face was done in paint shop pro. I know it’s not fantastic, but it’s one of my first creations as a 3d modeler. With all this said, I THRIVE on comments and constructive criticism. Please point out what I’m doing wrong/right. Also, please don’t be mean. I really appreciate any comment or criticisms you can give. Thank you.
Please either leave your comments or questions! I need help to grow as a modeler. Thank you.
welcome to the forum and howdy, Cal.

You got past the hard part and posted your work. So congrats on that.
-
You had fun it appears, so that is a plus.
-
Your models are a gazzzzillllion times better than my first postings for sure.
-
You are just start so of course there is a ton to learn and experience, so there is no reason to be harsh on you or your works. This is a fine first posting for a complete noob

Are you using the full version or the demo?
I don’t remember if you can run a script in the demo or not, it’s been a good while since I had the demo is why I ask.
I run 512 megs of ram also…so you should be able to do quite a bit…now you said the model was 400k poly’s …I would say that is a bit high for a head model, since 99 percent of what I do are head models.
The best way in my opinion to learn basic head modeling is to run the Zscripts. That to me has to be one of the greatest learning tools that Pixologic incorporated into this outstanding program we use.
I will find you a couple of my scripts and post them here for you. It’s always a great personal pleasure for myself to see a new artist discover the power of zbrush.
So with all this said, let me find a couple of scripts and I will post them on this thread for ya to help you get started and also to help you lower those poly counts

There are more around for sure…but hese are some I am partial to…I want to find the hand tutorial from Pusghetty (excellant tut) and there is a basic zsphere head base setup around here as well…I will try to find both for you also and post…the links about are the threads where the tuts and or zscripts are located…if a link opens up and is nothing but text /code then save it as a text file and run it in your zscripts…

That link will take you to the speed modeling head challenge area…lot of great head scripts on those pages from everyone…and if things move too fast stop the script…(Esc) button and you can slow things down in the zscripts drop down menu and then restart the script …also if you are unsure of what you are seeing being done, in the zscripts pallette you can click on the Show Actions to see each button being pushed during the session.
Hope this all helps you a bit.
kind regards,
Ron
Wow, thanks a ton, Ron! It was awfully nice of you to help out so much. I will certainly look through the scripts you have there for me. I have the full version by the way. When I saw the ad for this software on another site, I knew I had to get it. My friend is a 3d modeler, and I became interested from watching him work. You’re awesome for helping me out, Ron. I really do appreciate it so much.
P.S. I’m building a new computer for the sole purpose of 3d modeling and animation. What video card and RAM would you suggest I get? I have $1616 to spend. Oh, and it’s a desktop.
You are quite welcome.
As for a video card…I am not much help on that at the moment…I am still using an old Voodoo card…my system is ancient…about 8 years old…Mentat7 lists his system I believe on the bottom of his posts…so when you check out the threads that might be of some help. I personally am more interested in several gigs of ram and processor speed on my next system, though a good video card is important as well. LOL, I am so prehistoric I don’t have a clue on what my own next video card should be.

Just a note Ron that other complete noobs are finding this most helpful as well.
