Mushroom cloud test

Okay, tonight I was really bored so I decided to try making a nuclear blast mushroom cloud. The modeling was easy enough, just made a quick low poly in silo then detailed with stdDot and inflate. Really this is just a test to learn how to manipulate sharers and what not. I want to have multiple shaders certain points of the blast so the base is a dark dirty cloud, then give the appearance of the fireball going upwards. This picture is of the fire, I’m constantly tweaking so I’ll post updates. Any tips would be great

No comments? Good, okay, give up?

No people must still be asleep… u know that is a good idea maybe u should try making it a little transparent so that it looks as if smoke, dust or something like that u know

Thanks, I’ll try messing with something like that. What I want to do is model some demolished buildings and the like in Silo and either render it all with Zbrush or combine the nuke render in Zbrush and the city render in Cinema 4d. Could be some interesting results. I’d love to just render it all with Z2, this rendering engine rocks!

A little sunday afternoon update…little post work in photoshop.

If you’re looking for advice:

I think a mushroom cloud has rings of smoke too extending around the base and top. Here’s a link:
http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=mushroom+cloud

After looking at some of the images in the link, you’re really starting to nail this one down. The colors and glow are really lookin’ good.

Stop it !
Your next will be to explode the planet (and my monitor first) :warning:

ps I see someone else who use Google
:+1: I am not yet alone

Coul´d be interesting put a ring around the top of the mushroom. Ground coul´d use a flat plane with some round roughts like water ripples(with some little spikes, like rays promoted by the blast. Some trees turned down around to simulate the impact. No more, the last one is very very good.
PS.: Some fog, some areas…just a bit. :+1:

Thanks guys, that link helped out a lot. I think I’ll work on tweaking the model a bit and ad more to this scene. Feels great getting away from character modeling! …well trying to model characters that is. :stuck_out_tongue: Gotta say that I’m sooooo glad I purchased Z2. This was just an afternoon doodle that turned into something cool. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll post some updates this week.
