multitouch

hi all,

just asked the guys and gals at Pixologic if they have any plans to support the multitouch monitors that are soon to hit the shops (soon might well be a relative term).

They said that they have no plans at the moment, but suggested I suggest it to you people, the more of you that want it, the quicker it will become a reality.

For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, have a look at http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/65

and just imagine the possibilities with Zbrush!

cheers

Matt

I would be into it. There really isnt anything like Zbrush out there for multitouch.

Since pixologic acquired sculptris, I think that it is really cool of them to have been allowing us to fiddle with it for free. Sculptris could be the modeler they pioneer the multitouch features in, since they might be nervous about messing up zbrush now that it is so well liked as it is.

It would be a big change for zbrush because many of the tiny sliders and buttons and menus would need redesigning for peoples big fat fingers.

But Sculptris already has a fairly minimal interface. And imagine if even the different tools themselves didnt have to be chosen. Instead the difference between one finger or two could mean brushing or grabbing.
In or out could be over to the side for the hand holding the Asus EEE 121
or any other windows pad.

In other words a smooth sculpting environment that doesnt need a keyboard with a ton of short cuts and a bunch of menus that disappear when you accidentally move off them

A brush icon you can always see that can be widened or shrunk by spreading or pinching two fingers over it.

I would make this myself but I have to give a huge amount of gratitude and respect to pixologic for making software that handles millions of polygons as smoothly as it does. I think that the community agrees they are the masters of this.

These are meant to be ideas not complaints. I love zbrush and love teaching it to my students. But the original poster is right, ideas on forums are how users contribute to software packages.
