Multiple mesh's in Blender w/single texture to ZB Polypaint

I am beginning work on a massive video game project.

I will be using:

ZBrush R6 (R7 when it is released)
Sculptris
Blender 2.72b with TextureAtlas & GoB plugins

I am running into a huge workflow snag and was wondering if anyone might be able to fill in the blanks for me.

Say I started off with a vehicle model in Blender. Multiple meshes in the same scene while using TextureAtlas to merge all the UV’s onto the same texture map.

What are potential workflow options for using ZB to polypaint the same texture that was generated in Blender?

Any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have figured out a method that works beautifully.

Multiple meshes on a single UV map in Blender (TextureAtlas), passed over to zBrush (GoB). Polypainted and sent back to blender in no time.

If anyone is interested in seeing this workflow I can produce a quick tutorial to explain how it works. Just reply here and I will work something up for anyone that wants to see it.

Happy modeling!

I’m glad you solved it! :+1: I would be interested in seeing the workflow. Thanks for offering. Most people would just say “Never mind, I solved it” and that would be it.

That’s if they even decided to reply at all! I know all to well how people like that can be. Take information and give none back.

I can’t tell you how invaluable various modeling communities have been in my learning process over the years. If it wasn’t for people who are willing to share information, I would not have the comprehension I have today.

I will work up a tutorial for this workflow that will assume basic to advanced knowledge in both zBrush and Blender. I will also provide some great resources on filling in the gaps for anyone that isn’t quite there yet.

Additionally this workflow will require the Blender plugins mentioned previously, and I will include all the links you need to get those up and running.

Stay tuned!

Awesome! Thanks man. Much appreciated. :+1:

Just uploaded the tutorial for this workflow here:

If you have any questions, ask away. I can also provide the project files and the whole tutorial in a zip, if that helps.

Excellent! Thank you! :+1:

That link threw me off. I scrolled down looking for the Intro and overview and didn’t see it. I didn’t even think to scroll up. Maybe a better URL would be http://cgcookie.com/blender/2013/06/03/using-gob-zbrush-applink-blender/

Wow i did not realize that link would scroll so far down on the page. Odd
originally I clicked the link and the first time it took me to the page as normal. Now, it scrolls down to the comments. :stuck_out_tongue: Heh, I’ll fix it real quick.

Anyways thanks for the help!
