Multi touch?

Are there any plans to support this awesome new feature in Wacom tablets?

Imagine being able to pan, orbit, or rotate with a simple gesture… that would be pretty revolutionary in the sculpting world- the closest you can get to ‘hands on’ without getting clay under your fingernails.

i was thinking the exact same thing

But imagine how often you would accidentially touch a button you didn’t want to touch.
But mabye it would then be possible to split the screen by fields - so parts of the board won’t react on touch - only on pen.
I work with a cintiq 21 and I doubt this would be a good feature because you always got parts of your hand/arm laying on the screen. But for a board it might be a good thing.

There’s a difference between capacitive touch and stylus touch. Intuos5 detects both and knows the difference- multitouch is used for navigation and gestural shortcuts (such as pinch zooming/rotating, or swiping to undo). Input is handled with the stylus.

check out some of the videos for Intuos5- it will make more sense.

Just had a look at a few videos about the new features in Intuos 5 tablets. I’m pretty impressed. Surely it wouldn’t be that hard to integrate the new touch stuff into ZB?

That would be soo cool!

BTW: Has anyone had a chance to test out the new gen Waccom’s in ZB yet?

Just received my Intuos 5 today. Pretty sweet. You can in-fact use the touch pad to sculpt and rotate etc with your fingertips which is interesting but there would need to be refinements before this method could be used with accuracy.

Still, I have had a bit of fun so far with the move brush. I would say it’s only a matter of time before gestures are supported in ZBrush.

I might even submit an official feature request with Pixo - in the past they have been very responsive and open to new ideas.

Indeed this would be wonderful, although I expect it will get the same level of support the space mouse got from Pixologic. They seemed to think a space mouse would never be found on a professional’s desk.

You could eliminate accidental input by only using 2 finger gestures Like rotate and zoom. (Presently zoom seems to trigger the masking too ?!?, Rotate doesn’t seem to do any thing)

FOR EXAMPLE…

As it is now you can use right click navigation (a 2 finger gesture) and rotate without worrying about accidentally moving the work accidentally. Let us hope that Pixologic doesn’t give the potential of multi-touch the middle finger gesture.
