Just like the topic states and this is the message I get when I 'Save as".
‘Abnormal Termination
Sorry, an unrecoverable error has been encountered. ZBrush will attempt to save the current project to the QuickSave folder.’
Yesterdays projects that had multiple sub tools will not save once I add to them. But yesterdays projects where I merged and welded the sub tools save fine. I haven’t changed any system/software settings since then either.

Crashes should be submitted directly to Pixologic Support by clicking “Start a conversation” in the upper right of that page. In the future, if you have any questions regarding using ZBrush, you should post them in the ZBrush Help and Support Forum. This forum (ZBrush Central Support) is for help with the websites functionality.
That being said…
It might be that you have a lot of undo history. Before you save, go to “Preferences > Undo History” and disable “Enable Saving”. Then try saving again.
