Mudbox to Zbrush to Mudbox workflow settings?

Hi! I’m trying to talk a guy through some I/O problems he’s having going from Mudbox to Zbrush and back again, after I convinced him to make use of ZB’s handy transpose tools. Specifically, he’s having issues with the mesh being mirrored along one or more axes on import, and then with the poly normals being flipped upon re-import into MB.

I was wondering if there was a guide somewhere on I/O settings for this workflow, like there is with a number of other programs…or maybe at least some common wisdom on which axis(s) to set to flip upon import. Searching the forums was fruitless…most of the threads with “mudbox” in them tend to be on the “ranty” side.
