move, rotate weird actions

I am editing a cylinder tool, and when I switch from the rotate to the move or vice verse it turns it to a circle…so I have to re-rotate it.

Also when I activate the perspective button the cylinder turns into a teeny tiny cylinder. Im doing the chapter 3 exercise in Eric Keller Introducing ZBrush book. I can’t get past this part which is frustrating.

What am I doing wrong, I’m following the instructions to the letter. Not to mention, the gyro is where the cylinder used to be and the actual object is far to the left and very tiny, however it responds to the actions of moving.

pictures?

Sorry was having issues with saving pic. Here’s a screenshot of me trying to move/rotate cylinder.

As you can see it turned into an eclipse…I checked the Z coordinate, and it isnt because it’s behind the 1st layer. Using Zbrush has been a nightmare so far.

I thought using the book would make it alot easier to use.

I can’t help with 2.5d stuff. Sorry.

I have no idea what I did differently, but I got it to look like the exercise except, how do I adjust the height of the cylinder because scale changes all of the shape and not just the y.

By clicking on the different colors in the gyro, you can affect different
axis. Play around with it a bit and you’ll get it in no time.
