Move Plugins to Tray? (ZB 2018)

Can I move a plugin, e.g. Terrain Tools, to the right tray so it’s available
all the time?

I tried >Preferences >Config >Enable Customize, but could not
drag the plugin to the tray (?)

Hi! Just a couple refreshers:

  1. Please upgrade to the most up to date version of Zbrush. The upgrade is free for registered users, and will eliminate compatibility variables.

  2. The correct procedure for customizing UI elements is to Ctrl-Alt drag on them while Preferences > Config > Enable customize is active. Make sure to save the custom UI afterward. Store config with that UI active to make it the default UI at startup.

  3. You can drag a plug-in activation button anywhere into an interface slot, but not into a menu. Custom menus are created In preferences > Custom UI.

Note this only applies to Zplugins that start up with Zbrush. You may want to re-familiarize yourself with the installation of unofficial plug-ins.

Thanks, but already tried what you said in #2.
I installed Terrain Tools already, and it is in the Plugins dropdown.
When I enabled Customize, and tried to drag it using Ctrl-Alt, it did not hi-lite
or move.

“You can drag a plug-in activation button anywhere into an interface slot , but not into a menu”

Is the tray on the right side considered a slot or menu?

I just tried dragging Decimation Master to the right side tray, and it would
not move either.

The only thing that happens is, it lets you change the name of the plugin, but you can’t move the plugin. And you have to hit Escape to get out of the
dialogue box.

Guess it is not possible to move plugins to where they are convenient.

There is a slot to either side of the main viewport to drag elements into, but if you’re trying to drag it into the tool menu you’ve gone too far. The boundary of acceptable target areas will highlight when you ctrl-alt drag an element over them. They will resize themselves as smaller/larger items are added/removed.

Try flipping through the available UIs via the arrows on the top right of the program window. Find one that is closest to what you want as a starting target, and modify from there.

This is why I really need you to update to the newest version. We need to rule out issues with an obsolete program version before I can be much further help.

[Edit] Ah wait. I think you’re probably trying to drag from the collapsible plug-in title in the plug in menu rather than the plugin button. Click on those titles to open them, then the actual UI button should be in there someplace.

If that doesn’t solve your issue, then we’re back to where we were previously.

Got it to work,
I wanted just Terrain Tools, but got the whole list of Plugins…
even better.
customize

Thanks for all the great help. :grinning:
