Move brush only adding or only subtracting

Hi, I’m new to zbrush and I’ve run into a sort of problem with one of the brushes. For some reason my move tool is constraining itself to either adding or subtracting, but not freely moving topology in any direction. Any idea why this would be happening?

Also I’ve tried toggling zadd and zsub which does let me move the topology inward, but I can’t do both at the same time as I could before. It’s like I have the base topology of the subtool locked somehow to where I can only build off of it.

Hi @WontonKing

Try selecting the Move brush, then at the bottom of the Brush palette, click “Reset Current Brush” button. If that doesn’t work, a screenshot of the entire interface would be helpful. Also, show an example of the problem.

Hello @WontonKing

Without better information my only guess might be that you could have snapshotted a copy of the model to the canvas as pixols, and it is overlapping with the live mesh, possibly confusing what you are doing. If this is the case, Ctrl-N will clear the canvas of pixols.

Be sure to read about Edit mode as well as the entire basic concepts section of the ZBrush documentation if you have not done so already.

Otherwise, please provide the additional information Zber2 requested.

Thanks man! That fixed it. :+1:

Thanks for the reply and that is exactly what I had thought I did, just didn’t know how to undo it if I had. Turns out I must have altered a brush setting somehow and resetting it fixed the issue. Thanks again!
