Hi there.
I’m facing a strange problem with the move brush (Zbrush 3.2 Mac).
I can’t use it freely. Normally when you hold down the pen the whole model is moving under it. What happens in this case is that the model moves only in small increments.
If I load another model the move brush works as expected!!
Do you think that the model with the unpredictable move brush got corrupted?
Is there a way to get it back to normal? I worked on it for quite a few hours to start everything all over again.
If you have any ideas that would be great.
I never heard something similar before… hm… are you sure nothing is masked?
(Maybe the mask is invisible. Click on “clear” in the Masking palette just to make sure nothing is masked. )
How many polys does your model have? Some screenshots might help to see what`s going on.
Edit: Did you check the ZIntensity and the Draw Size sliders?
Ok so here’s a really quick example.
In the video I’m first trying to manipulate the problematic mesh with the move brush. You can see that even though I’m moving my brush all the way to the right it seems to somehow lock and stop moving. I have to press multiple times to just move the mesh just a bit. Then I load up a mesh with no problems. With the same brush size and intensity and with just one swipe I can modify the mesh quite drastically.

I think the issue is zspheres?
The problematic mesh is an adaptive skin made from zspheres.
Whereas the other model was a mesh created from cinema4d and then brought to Zbrush.
It seems that I’m able to recreate the problem everytime I create
a adaptive skin. I just created a bunch of zspheres and made an adaptive skin.
Using the move brush results in the same locked behaviour. Not as drastic as in the example but still happening. I have no idea why this is happening.
try hitting unify in the deformation palette.
also try cloning the tool and doing your moves on that one.
also what zintensity are you using?
Hey spaceboy!
Unify solved the problem! (Cloning did nothing). I now can use the move brush as it’s intended.
This is strange though since I can replicate the problem with any zspheres, of any size.
EDIT: The Zintensity was 25 and the brush size was 64.
i’m going off of the way 3.5r2 works now, but when you use zspheres now they are really big, if you check the tool: preview window the model will be too large, thats why unify fixed your problem, however with zspheres if you hit unify it will screw them up so you will have to deformation : size them down to fit in the box, only if you’re having problems would i do that. or after you make your skin.
