Most efficient way of remeshing a model with no lower SubDivs

Hello,

The ZRemesher is useful for a model with many different SubDivisions, as the detail is projected on the new lowpoly mesh the remesher creates.

But what about a high-poly subtool with no SubDivision (such a one which is created with the Extract function)

I cannot simply subdivide it 6 more times (it would reach 100s of millions of polys) then ZRemesh it.

How else can I manage to take this high-poly and give it lower subdivisions that have a good edge flow (so it can be exported in a video game)?

Thank you.

Think you may be confused about ZRemesher. It is for exactly that purpose. You run it on a high poly model to create a low poly version. You then sub-divide that and project the detail from the high res version. Then go back to the low poly level and create your normal or displacement maps etc.

How can a highpoly be manually projected to a low poly?

If I freeze the SubD levels, zremesh and unfreeze, the details are projected automatically.

Duplicate your mesh. Remesh one then reproject.
