@Diablo: Thank you very much!
Sunday afternoon shenanigans.
ZBrush + Cycles.
This whole time I’ve been trying to use the glass shader for cornea. What a fool I was!
Turns out a mix shader of glossy+transparent at a factor of 0.9 works heaps better.

Sculpt/texture in ZBrush. Render in Blender Cycles.
very cool sculpt!
Great style! looks like a painting! Awesome!
Interesting. nice style.
interesting presentation, ,it almost looks like a painting,how can cycles do that? or is everything handpainted into the textures? very curious i am
Love it!
@rodrigo.g, farhadnojumi, chief71: Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
@kokoro: The sculpt is still fairly rough so there’s still some visible streaks.
And then for the texture paint I first did a quick spotlight projection of the concept art and used that base for sampling the colors.
I then did an overpaint using a square alpha also leaving streaks which helps with the painterly effect.
The shader is just a mix shader of gloss/diffuse with very little gloss.
I love this! You really nailed the stylized facial proportion that made those character so unique. Beautiful render, too. I’ve got to learn that technique.
That’s really clever, love the style - nice one! Might give it a go myself.
ah, thank you for explaining, i see, very interesting method
