(MOO!) Using the Tool>Geometry>Cage switch for pose 2 pose

In step 6 here (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showpost.php?p=229058&postcount=2) what does activating the cage switch do?

Is the net effect such that the displacement map will be calculated from a base subdivision level of level 2 rather than level 1?

So, if I wanted to export the posed model to .obj and render it with displacement I should export at level two then?

Also, does the cage switch keep the volume of that level? So that the resulting displacement render won’t be too “skinny” ?

Another dumb question. So when you’re saving a non-sphere ztool, you always need to save at the lowest sub-d level. How about when saving a zsphere ztool? Should I always save with the preview off? Or lower the geometry to sub-d 1 and then preview off?

Thanks!

Bill i thought you were my senior  just kidding

Well the last answer is yes, you can save zsphere also at lowest level…

preview off then better, but I normally save my zsphere model at highest level simply because I got lot of hardisk space now, with preview off, remmber zsphere is a generator so file size wont be affected much…

Why you need to go for cage, it never worked for me till now, I simply bring the model to level 1, press morp target, go back to higest level just to be sure of everythinga nd add nay details, come back to level 1 and create the D map.

It works fine for me, low poly for exporting to other softwares though I dont rigg in other softwares

You need cage if the geometry has alterd enough from your original morph store to keep the surface detail. Trust me it is necessary if you are doing Zsphere figures.

Level 2 usually is the best, the cage button makes adjustment to the level of choice to ensure the main points are in the right place to hold the displacement properly.

If you can always save at lowest level, Windows seems to like this better than the Mac, I know that zspheres reduced to level 1 and saved on the Mac does zippo for file size, but apprently does some good on Windows.
