Monster Astronaut

Still new at this. This is my first ‘successful’ rendering of a displacement map made in zbrush rendered in Maya

This is looking fantastic! Are you texturing him?
Lemo

Diggin’ it. Really captures the feel of the poster and the vintage nature. You might as well keep it black and white and work it like a still from the movie. Looking great!

Great work! I really love how the suit transitions into those tentacles. The movie poster is a toon shaded version right? I thought it was a real movie poster until compared the sucker pattern to the model

Awesome, better let 50s_Kid know about this. You two can go crazy!

 looking great

I love it.
That’s a cool design man!
Really like the old school feeling.
Keep going.

Oh, Fantastic! I love ‘Monster Astronaut’!!! And a MOVIE POSTER!! Great! What a cast of characters. Where do I get my ticket? I want it in a Drive-In. I’m your fan, KruddMan! Thanks for the note, Jason. 50.

thanks for comments!

I may texture it though I want to move on and try some more stuff… and I also like the black and white look

I’ll probably have more things with tentacles to post here soon

Nothing better than tentacles. 50.

This is awesome! I need to rent some of these movies! I want my senior thesis animation to be based on cheesy sci fi of the 50’s. Any suggestions for movies to check out?

Hi womball, I might suggest a few for starters:

Attack of the Crab Monsters, It the Terror from Beyond Space, The Monster that Challenged the World, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, The Monster of the Piedras Blancos, The Giant Gila Monster, Invasion of the Saucermen, The Monolith Monsters, The Deadly Mantis, Navy vs. the Night Monsters, The Fiend Without a Face, First Man into Space, Night of the Bloodbeast, The Blob, Plan 9 From OuterSpace, X the Unknown, Teenagers From Outer Space, Earth vs. The Flying Saucers, It Came From Beneath the Sea, The Beast From 20,000 Fathums, Twenty Million Miles To Earth. I could go on for awhile, but that’s a good sample. Some of these I would call ‘Good’ Sci-Fi, and some I would call ‘Good-Bad’ Sci-Fi,…if you know what I mean. 50.
