What is ‘MODO’ and why should I care? MonsterMaker uses it. Must have some value. Can someone explain its relevance to character design and animation?

luxology produces modo. Its a standalone subd modeller with serious customizablility. Unfortuantely its like $600.00+. aparently modo 2.0 will support procedural texture painting and a crazy renderer that can do high res displacement maps. It also toats a serious uv unrapping tool which seems to make laying out uvs a snap. You can also use PERL to script new tools and commands in it. goto luxology.com for more details I guess.
