Modifying an imported mesh object

Hey guys,

I am new to Zbrush and want to take preexisting mesh object (shaped like a cave) and modify it in Zbrush. Specifically I want to give it some thickness around the mouth of the cave by “turning” in the edge around the opening. I imported it, then activate Edit/Draw, but when I selected a brush and tried to apply to it, nothing happened. Wondering what I am missing?

Thank you.

Did you click on “Make Polymesh 3D” first?

Hi Dillster,

(or anyone else reading this)

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but am still not able to use a brush to add thickness. I wonder if you could watch this very short screencast video (1 minute) and comment on what I’m doing?

Thank you.

From what I can tell you need to change some settings.

You need to weld your verts (tool>geometry>modifiy geometry)
You want to actually create a shell of this object. You can do this with the Zmodeler brush or you can create an extraction of the mesh.
