Hi,
I would like to hear about others go about modeling true-to-concept characters from 2d concept art in Maya/XSI whatever.
Lets say you are lucky enough to have character turnaround drawings from front side back and 3/4 and you need your model to be DEAD ON these drawings.
Obviously you would import these drawings into your viewport and model over. I noticed a good technique in the Maya Secrets of the Pros book where the author drew splines (1 degree EP curve tool in maya) over the concept art from the front view, then reworked the splines from the side view, then later used the splines as guidlines for drawing polys, pretty slick.
Anyone else have any cool tricks for modeling deadly accurate models from concept art?
Thanks!
