Model gets dark as if its masked

I’m super new in zbrush and this happened. some parts of my model have gotten darker like its masked but its not. and now when I try to use clay brush its darker than my model too. by the way its not because of my v button and the texture is off as well.

Hi Brono!

There’s not enough information here for me to do much else other than make some guesses. If you’d like us to examine the file for you in more depth, please contact Pixologic Support.

First guess: Polypaint.

Have you disabled polypaint to see if the issue disappears? You can do that either by toggling off the paintbrush icon in the subtool’s entry in the subtool list, or disabling it globally in Tool> Polypaint.

If the color disappears, then it was polypaint. There are many possible explanations for why or how polypaint is being applied to your model. The most immediate one would be if you have either the RGB or MRGB channels active on the brush, but this is far from the only possible explanation. We would need to know much more about your file and process to pinpoint the issue.

If the issue is specific to a certain brush, you can reset the current brush to default settings at the bottom of the Brush palette. This may clear the problem if its the result of something that has been set for the brush.

Thank you!

HI SPYNDEL!
i tried your solution .reseting my brush didnt do anything but when i toggle of the colorize in polypaint it turned my whole model darker and when i used the brush and toggled it on, the resault of my brush was same color of my model.
however problem doesn’t seems to be brushes fault because some of my subtools were completly darker than the rest and i didnt know when that happened :frowning:
in those subtools my colorize soloution doesnt do anything and model stay dark no matter what i do.
if my information about my problem isnt enough i guess i should contact pixologic support

Hi @brono,
just a guess at the moment, but can you check in Preferences > edit > inactive subtool Dimming setting, and set it a a value of 0.7.
let me explain what this slider is doing:
It changes the color of the inactive subtool, so the lower the value is and the darker the inactive subtools will be.

Well if you want a close look at the issue you have you got to start a new conversation with the support.

Hope it helps.
