Model disappears when rotating

I have no idea why this happens, but it has bothered me for a while now.

There are times when I am trying to zoom in on a specific part of a model, then i try to get a better angle on what I’m seeing. But when I rotate the camera the model suddenly disappears. The really confusing thing is that this doesn’t happen on every model, not even most models, but when it happens on a certain model it seems like it will always happen on that model from that point forward. I can’t tell if this has anything to do with high poly vs low poly models, whether retopologizing using dynamesh, decimate, project, etc. has any effect on it, and it doesn’t seem to matter whether or not a model has been made partially visible.

I have tried to look this up online and all of the solutions I have seen assume that I must accidentally have “Transp” “Ghost” and/or “Solo/Dynamic Solo” clicked in some combination that is messing with visibility, but it happens with all of those clicked off too.

This basically means i can’t get a close up look to fix areas where I can tell something is wrong but can’t quite see the problem.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Is your model at or near the origin or very far away from the origin?

I may not have the right idea but many camera problems for these kind of programs occur if a model is very far away from the origin. Turn on Floor mode and check…

I never would have guessed that the origin would have been a factor at all, but i looks like you may be right. The closer I have my model to the origin, the better the camera works. It does still do the weird clipping thing, but I am able to zoom in much, much further before I have any issues.

Thanks for the help
