missing parts of menus and brushes

Hi I sent in a help ticket to Zbrush, but as this is the holiday weekend I don’t think they will be able to get back to me until Tuesday. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated!

I was following a tutorial about how to make my own alphas, resized my document window to 300x300, when Zbrush crashed on me. I restarted it and noticed most of the options in my Tools menu were gone, basically everything below the little window like the export settings and displacement, Geometry, etc. Then I also noticed my brushes were grayed out as well, I cannot change them.

I tried to change to default config and UI, and it still doesn’t seem to bring them back. I’m in the process now of scanning for viruses and so far I do have two files infected, will clear that up and see but what if these don’t come back?

So what are my options? Uninstall and reinstall?

Those options are only available when you have a mesh in Edit mode:

1 Press Tool>Load Tool and select a ZTL from the ZTools folder.

  1. Click and draw on the canvas, then press ‘T’ on the keyboard to enter Edit mode.

  2. You should now be able to use the sculpting brushes and have the mesh options in the tool palette.

Oh man, don’t tell me I just made the most ameturish mistake… :lol: I’ve been using Zbrush for awhile now, and I think it was just because Zbrush crashed that had me kind of freaking out :lol: Thanks a lot, this newbie is embarassed!

No worries, we all left the hand brake on when we were new to the driving seat. :wink:
